Developed through Checkolite International
A ceiling-mounted wine rack with integrated accent lighting, designed in 2007 through Checkolite International. The brief was to bring lighting and wine storage together into a single hanging fixture for kitchen and dining spaces — a kitchen accessory category Checkolite hadn't previously occupied, expanding the lighting brand's product range into adjacent home goods.
The design carries 14 bottles on a horizontal shelf with stemware racks below holding up to 24 standard wine glasses, all suspended from the ceiling by four poles connecting to the canopy. The form took its cue from the silhouette of modern kitchen range hoods — a ceiling canopy, a vertical drop, and a horizontal deck below — translating that vertical kitchen presence into a fixture that hung over a dining or prep surface rather than a stove. A brushed nickel frame with a wood top deck holds the silhouette clean and quietly contemporary, in keeping with the brushed-nickel kitchen finish popular at the time. Integrated accent lighting sits within the structure, casting light down across the wine and glassware while doubling as functional kitchen task lighting. The proportions and mounting hardware were sized to a standard kitchen ceiling, fitting most home installations without modification.
Released through Lowe's, and still available across resale channels today.
