Developed for Walmart Better Homes & Gardens through Grand Leisure, released Spring 2024.
A statement chair extending the Better Homes & Gardens Tarren Conversation Set already in-market with Walmart, designed into BHG's Spring 2024 patio assortment. The program direction called for a statement piece that lived inside Tarren's established visual identity — handwoven wicker rope on a steel frame — without becoming a scaled-up version of the existing conversation seating. The design problem was continuity, not introduction.
The chair pushes to chair-and-a-half proportions, with a tall back and curved-in sides that wrap toward the seat to create a sense of enclosure — shelter and presence rather than the open, conversational posture of the original set. The KD construction runs on threaded round-tube legs, and the softer round-tube frame paired with the bucket geometry lets the chair land more universal in appeal than the original; the shared handwoven wicker rope, weave pattern, and finishes carry the Tarren family read. Offered in two colorways — black to match the existing collection, and beige to extend it into a tone the conversation set didn't carry.
Released early SP24 in-store and online with Walmart Better Homes & Gardens.
