A lounge chair developed in 2020 as part of a category-development program that brought an outdoor furniture business into indoor furniture for a national warehouse-club retailer. Assortment research pointed to woven seating as an important direction, with leather strap construction emerging as a way to introduce warmth, craft, and a more residential character while retaining the visual openness of outdoor furniture.
The chair is organized around a low, relaxed stance and a simple exposed wood frame. Wide leather straps form the seat and back in a repeating woven pattern, allowing the upholstery itself to define much of the chair's visual identity. The broad planar surfaces of the weave contrast with the narrower frame members, creating a clear relationship between structure and softness.
The rear legs extend upward to support the back in one continuous gesture, giving the profile a sense of lean and directional movement while keeping the construction direct and buildable. The open space beneath the seat and between the straps keeps the chair visually light, while the dark wood and leather palette gives the piece a grounded, substantial presence.
The lounge chair translates a researched material direction into a restrained indoor seating form, balancing woven leather, exposed structure, and relaxed proportion.
