Developed for the iHome brand (iHL12) through Checkolite International
A desk speaker lamp with built-in iPod dock and three-point adjustable structure, designed for Checkolite's iHome licensed product line and released in 2008 as part of the second iHome lamp series I led for Checkolite.
The design reduces the lamp to three simple round forms connected by slender poles — a base, a mid-joint, and a head. The base sits fixed on the desk, holding the dock and speaker; the mid-joint pivots to tilt the upper pole forward or back; and the lamp head both rotates and adjusts up and down, giving the user fine control over where the light is directed. The reduction was deliberate: working within the minimal-element vocabulary that defined Apple's design language at the time, the lamp built its identity from a few clean geometric shapes rather than a single sculpted housing. Colorways matched the iPod nano palette of the time — silver, blue, pink, and black — so each lamp could pair directly to its owner's device, carrying the iHome program's consistent Apple-ecosystem logic.
Released through Best Buy, Toys "R" Us, Bed Bath & Beyond, and other retailers, and still available across resale marketplaces today.
