A four-light chandelier developed as residential lighting was beginning to shift toward more reduced, sculptural forms. The design translated the emerging open-frame and geometric language into an accessible fixture for Lowe’s Portfolio collection, combining the familiarity of a traditional candelabra chandelier with a more architectural structure.
The composition combines a rectangular lower frame with diagonal supports that rise to a single suspension point, creating a faceted volume around the light source. Additional diagonal members cross the sides of the frame, breaking up the box-like geometry and giving the fixture a stronger sense of movement from different viewing angles. At the center, four exposed candle lights sit within the open structure, allowing the frame itself rather than glass or applied ornament to define the fixture.
Finished in dark bronze, the chandelier sits between traditional lantern lighting and the more graphic, architectural direction emerging at the time. The result uses structure rather than ornament to create a distinctive presence while remaining approachable for a broad residential market.
