Developed through Checkolite International for Lowe’s Portfolio, released 2009.
A two-light desk lamp developed for Lowe’s Portfolio collection, translating the refined traditional lighting language of the period into an accessible design for the home office. The direction paired familiar architectural detailing with a restrained silhouette, creating a fixture that felt more like a piece of residential furnishing than conventional task lighting.
The design is built around a broad frosted glass dome supported by a slender bronze-finished column and weighted circular base. A narrow metal rim defines the lower edge of the glass while a turned neck and open-ring finial introduce traditional detailing without adding visual weight. The proportions keep the shade dominant, allowing the softly illuminated glass to become the primary visual element. A rotary dimmer integrated into the base provides adjustable ambient light while keeping the control within easy reach on a desk or work surface.
Developed for Lowe’s Portfolio brand, the lamp brought the material warmth and softened traditional character of higher-end residential lighting into a straightforward, mass-retail desk lamp.
