Developed for Sam’s Club Member's Mark through Agio
A rocking chair released in 2017 through Sam's Club's Member's Mark Heritage Collection — the warehouse retailer's signature outdoor furniture program — designed at Agio to extend the collection's established material palette into a new sculptural form. Heritage had been built around handwoven all-weather wicker on rust-free aluminum and steel frames, and the rocking chair was added to widen the collection's seating range beyond the existing sectionals, dining sets, deep seating, and chaise lounges.
The design works within the Heritage palette — handwoven all-weather wicker forms the seat and back, and the exposed metal carries the collection's hand-applied finish on rust-free aluminum — while introducing a more contemporary silhouette than the heavier wicker-wrapped pieces elsewhere in the line. Ribbed arm tubes and continuous flowing curves draw the eye through a lighter, more dynamic profile, with a softened scrollwork detail blending into the geometry as a quiet reference to the traditional rocking-chair vocabulary the form descends from. The rocking motion is engineered through the aluminum frame itself rather than added as a separate runner, keeping the silhouette continuous and clean. Where the rest of the Heritage Collection reads as substantial deep seating, the rocking chair brings a more sculptural, single-seat character to the family.
Released in 2017 through Sam's Club's Member's Mark Heritage Collection and still in active production nine years later, with the chair available continuously through Sam's Club as part of the standing assortment.
