Developed through Checkolite International for Lowe’s Portfolio, released 2008.
A basic ceiling fixture developed for Lowe’s Portfolio collection as a more contemporary alternative to the conventional round flushmount. The design reworked the familiar circular footprint into a softened square geometry, giving an everyday residential fixture a more architectural presence while maintaining the simplicity and accessibility expected of the category.
The square form carries through both the metal canopy and molded glass diffuser, creating a unified profile from ceiling to shade. A stepped brushed-metal frame follows the perimeter, while concentric ribs molded into the glass reinforce the geometry and add depth when illuminated. Softened corners keep the square footprint from feeling overly rigid, balancing the more contemporary form with the familiarity of a traditional basic ceiling light.
The fixture remained in Lowe’s Portfolio assortment for many years, extending the basic flushmount category with a simple geometric shift that gave the design a distinct identity beyond its conventional round counterpart.
