A dining chair developed in 2020 within a category-expansion program focused on translating an outdoor furniture sensibility into indoor product for a national warehouse-club retailer. The design explored how familiar woven and strapping techniques could be adapted into a more tailored dining format with a stronger residential presence.
The chair uses a solid wood frame and upholstered seat, paired with a broad leather strap back that gives the piece its primary visual character. The wider weave creates a more graphic, structured surface than natural cord while preserving the openness and rhythm associated with woven furniture. Its scale gives the back a stronger sense of support and makes the material feel intentional rather than decorative.
The frame remains clean and architectural, allowing the contrast between wood, upholstery, and leather to define the composition. The result is a dining chair that feels warm and tactile, but also controlled enough for a more refined interior setting.
The chair brings a woven outdoor influence indoors through a more tailored material expression, balancing leather, wood, and upholstery in a straightforward residential form.
